Our Mission

We are a foster based rescue group of volunteers dedicated to helping the homeless animal population in Southeast Michigan. We rescue, rehabilitate, & rehome dogs from shelters in our local counties of Oakland, Livingston, Washtenaw, and Wayne.

Our focus is on rescuing senior dogs, dogs with medical issues, and dogs with behavioral issues. Most of our rescues come from our local shelters and are often on the euthansia list, meaning that we are their last chance. It’s our goal to heal their bodies and spirits!

Our founder, Jamie Boertmann, has always been drawn to these animals in need. She’s been leading the charge to save lives for 7 years! Jamie’s personal philosophy is to empower those around her and works to help broken animals reclaim their strength. Her passion and devotion to animal rescue is a true inspiration to those around her.

Because we often save animals with specialized needs, we occasionally come across animals in the end stage of their lives who have been abandoned. Our rescue makes sure to give animals like these a quality of life with Hospice Fostering. To learn more about our Hospice cases, click here.

"To be a dog is to be born to love and work for humans. They are one of the few animals born with a natural instinct to understand us, follow our commands, and to trust us completely. We owe it to dogs to give back: To treat them well, to provide for them, and to love them."

— Emily McRae, Secretary of the Canine Liberation League
